The Buick Achiever’s Scholarship

The Buick Achiever’s Scholarship is available for eligible seniors planning to major in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. The Aaron Coyle Award

The Aaron Coyle Award is presented each year to a member of the greater Johnstown High School graduating class in honor and remembrance of Aaron Coyle.
Aaron Coyle was a member of the graduating class of 2001 who was murdered one evening in Moxham before he could graduate. The Moxham Ministerium presents the award to a graduating senior who is continuing on to some form of post-high school education. The award is given to a graduate whose life exemplifies the noblest of human values: faith, hope, love and friendship, and in recognition of his or her willingness to give of his or her time, energy, and talents to affirm the goodness of life. This is not an academic award. The award’s cash value is sent to the recipient’s school of higher education where he or she will attend in the upcoming academic year. Please see your guidance counselor if you would like to apply.

Harie/Foxco – Michael Stefan Scholarship Award

Applications are available for the Harie/Foxco – Michael Stefan Scholarship Award. Students residing in Public Housing Developments and those participating in the Housing Choice Voucher Program may apply. The application deadline is April 15th. The Student View Scholarship Program

The Student View Scholarship Program is offering $10,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. Log on to www.student-view.com to complete the application. The scholarship deadline is April 22, 2011.

Final Transcripts for Seniors

Seniors – Your Final Transcripts must be requested from your Guidance Counselor and sent to the college/university or post-secondary institution that you are accepted to and plan on attending. Be sure to provide a stamped and addressed envelope to you Guidance Counselor.

The Challenge Program Announcement

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors…, As 2011 begins The Challenge Program wants to remind you that you could win 250 dollars at the end of the school year. The 250 dollar checks are awarded in four categories: Academic Excellence, Academic Improvement, Attendance, and Community Service. Whether your talent is lending a helping hand in the community, improving your grades or just showing up for school, The Challenge Program wants to reward you for your hard work. Don’t forget that your community service hours must be submitted to be in the running for the Community Service award so visit your guidance department today to pick up a form.

SAT dates

There are two more dates to take the SAT. If you want to take the May 7th SAT you must register by April 8th. If you want to take the June 4th SAT you must register by May 10th.

Stop in the Guidance Office for more details or go directly to the Trojan College Access Office in A228 for assistance with your registration.

Do you receive testing accommodations such as extended time, extra breaks, small group setting or school based testing? If you have an IEP or other documentation of your accommodations see Mr. Deater in the Guidance Office immediately.

JOB FAIR

The Cambria County Job Fair will be held on May 3, 2011 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center in downtown Johnstown. This unique event will showcase over 75 employees that are looking to hire qualified individuals in a variety of occupations. Be prepared to meet employers. Bring your resume and dress professionally.

Scholarship

The Johnstown/Somerset Labor Council, AFL-CIO is sponsoring a scholarship available for High Seniors who are accepted at a post-secondary educational institution. 1st prize is $1,500, 2nd prize is $1,300 3rd prize is $1,200, 4th prize is $1,000. The deadline is April 7, 2011. See your Guidance Counselor for further details and application guidelines.
